The Curation

The story of Last Manner — who we are, why we exist, and the standard we hold everything to.

Close up of Tokyo Pipe Co. Field L in brass with flame

Founded 2023, Los Angeles

It started with a lighter.

A Tokyo Pipe Co Field L in brass. The kind of object that makes you wonder why everything else feels so temporary — why so much is made to be replaced rather than kept.

That question became a store. The store became a standard. And the standard became Last Manner.

The Mission

We champion human craft—curating objects made with care, intention, and respect for those who came before us.

The Standard

We look for pieces that improve with use, reward attention, and outlast trends. Most things do not qualify. The few that do live here.

The Philosophy

We believe in humans. Their greatness comes from care — discipline, not shortcuts. Patience, craft, intention.

Beauty is not excess. It is intention made visible — a respect for those who came before.

Objects are not just things. They are made to be kept. Used well. And kept longer.

We carry the torch. We honor the last manner of doing things properly. With care. With detail. With intention.

Not Just Things

The desire to own "things" is not always materialistic. The right object can carry memory, usefulness, ritual, and meaning far beyond the act of possession.

Your Father's Wallet

Maybe the old, cordovan wallet passed down by your late father provides a daily reminder of his loving presence. You take it with you—everywhere—and sometimes simply admire its enduring craftsmanship.

The Trusty Flask

Or perhaps an outage during a snowstorm provides a moment of gratitude for having stuck to the sacred routine of keeping your lucky lighter filled with petrol and ready to go. A warm fire and a swig of bourbon from your trusty flask transform a scary moment into a beautifully tranquil memory.

The Surefire Pen

Maybe the brass pen you've religiously carried since college provides the necessary flourish for signing the deed to your first house; consummating a long sought after dream with a trusted tool that accompanied you on the path to achieve it.

The Sacred Totem

Or maybe it is a simple, one-of-a-kind object that returns you to a person, a place, or a moment — carrying a private kind of peace that is nearly impossible to explain to anyone who has not found a totem of their own.

Your Companion for Life

Whatever your story may be, an heirloom-quality accessory can become a companion in life — useful, familiar, and quietly capable of carrying meaning, memory, and joy far beyond its function alone.

This Isn't Just a Store

It’s a commitment to champion human craft—offering objects made with care, intention, and respect for those who came before us. From curation to service, we ensure the makers—and the objects themselves—continue to matter.

A Timeline of Last Manner

It’s been a wild ride—what started as a dream is now a story worth telling. Here are the moments that turned an idea into Last Manner.

February 2023

A Dream Realized

As a Screen Actors Guild strike looms, owner and actor Jeff Galfer sees the perfect opportunity to pursue his second dream: opening a store dedicated to the beautiful, hard-to-find accessories he’s always loved. With a passion for craftsmanship and a commitment to supporting artisans, the journey begins.

March 2023

The Build Commences

The official work into building a website and opening the store has begun. Jeff blind emails vendors, pitching them to work with our new store. Pictured here is the first draft of our website, originally called Gladfellow.

May 2023

Gladfellow Opens

Our final website is revealed and our e-commerce store opens to the public. Two months of exhilerating, but difficult work sourcing vendors, designing packaging, tweaking the website, photographing product (amongst many other things) have culminated into this exciting moment.

Days Later

Our First Sale

While a few customers helped us test the site with purchases in April, our first official sale is on this day. Pictured here is the first item we sold: a black Banshu Hamono Higonokami Folding Knife.

March 2024

Gladfellow LLC

Gladfellow grows to represent over 25 of the world’s top everyday carry (EDC) brands, transitioning from a DBA to an official LLC, further solidifying its role as a premier curator of EDC essentials.

February 2025

Worldwide Success

In just under two years, Gladfellow establishes customers across five continents and in over twenty countries. In the United States alone, Gladfellow reaches 49 out of 50 states, including Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. Wyoming, we’re waiting for you!

April 2025

Our 50th State!

With an order fulfilled to Newcastle, Wyoming, Gladfellow officially reaches all 50 states and U.S. territories. Thank you for helping us cross the entire map!

February 2026

Gladfellow Becomes Last Manner

With this change, our new name more accurately represents who we are and what we stand for.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

In Jeff's Words

I've always had a deep appreciation for expert craftsmanship and the skilled artisans behind it. Yet the demand for cheaper and faster has grown stronger than ever, with events like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Prime Day dominating the shopping landscape. I've never understood this desire. It promotes a disconnected, disinterested, and unsustainable way of consuming — one that ignores the artisan behind the art and prioritizes convenience over intention.

In early 2023, I founded Gladfellow to create a deeper connection to the goods we buy, the people who make them, and the like-minded individuals who value quality and care.

Over time, as the store evolved, I realized the name Gladfellow no longer fully encompassed the spirit of the brand. A community had formed — people who believed in the old way of doing things: carefully, intentionally, with expertise and soul. And so, in February 2026, Gladfellow became Last Manner.

The future is analog. The future is human. And together - along with our craftspeople and our customers - I look forward to carrying the torch of the Last Manner.
