It's extremely important to be aware of your own local laws. Last Manner is not responsible for any loss due to confiscated packages by customs in your country or if taxes of any kind are charged to you upon delivery of your purchase. Prior to purchasing, please do your own research on customs, prohibited items, restrictions, taxes, duties, and limited delivery locations via your shipping method.

If you are ordering from these countries, please familiarize yourself with our shipping and return policies for important information regarding customs and local laws.

The simple answer is that we don’t have control over customs fees, as they vary by country and are determined by each government's trade agreements.

For instance, Canada has a low threshold for import duties, meaning that customers may incur fees on orders starting at just $20. Additionally, Canada imposes high import fees, and UPS charges significant brokerage fees on top of that.

Unfortunately, we cannot predict the exact customs duties or taxes that customers will need to pay at checkout nor can we assess these charges in advance.

Please note that we are required to declare the actual value of the items we ship and cannot adjust this value to reduce import duties. We also do not profit from shipping charges or import fees. Importantly, you will not be taxed on purchases made outside your country, ensuring that you are not double taxed.

If you are an international customer and your tracking information shows up with the message "Import charges are due for this package. Select Pay Now (where available) or pay at delivery." message, you owe brokerage fees and must pay them before UPS will deliver your package.

You can pay them by visiting the UPS website directly.

To do this, click on the UPS tracking number on our Last Manner tracking page. This will redirect you to the UPS tracking page for your order.

Once there, you will see a message at the top of your tracking information that says "An outstanding balance is due on this package. Pay now".

Click the "Pay now" link and you will be redirected to a page that will allow you to pay your brokerage fees.

Once paid, UPS will deliver your package.

If you waited too long to pay the fees (after three delivery attempts), UPS might require you to call/email them in order to reschedule your delivery.

Once your package is handed over to the carrier, Last Manner cannot control delivery times or address carrier-specific issues. That said, we want your orders to arrive safely in your hands. While our shipping providers are typically reliable, incidents can occasionally happen.

If your package is lost in transit, please contact us, and we will assist in the recovery process. If an insurance claim is required, we will help you file it. Please note that insurance claims can take time to resolve, and replacements will not be sent until the claim is resolved.

All shipments include tracking and up to $200 of insurance. However, this insurance only covers packages while in transit. Once a package is marked “delivered,” insurance no longer covers theft or loss.

Due to the rise in package theft, we strongly recommend having packages delivered to secure locations or ensuring someone is available to receive them. Last Manner advises against leaving packages unattended for extended periods.

If a replacement is ultimately issued, Last Manner reserves the right to ship it using any available shipping method.

Absolutely not.

And to be perfectly transparent, here is how the breakdown of those charges works:

Shipping: Shipping is not a profit center for us. Rates are set to approximate carrier costs, and we often absorb part of the expense so that shipping remains fair and predictable.

Taxes: Whatever you are charged in sales tax is what you owe. Since we are located in California, only those shopping from within California pay sales tax. That tax money is then passed on directly on to the State of California. Those shopping from any other state (or country, for that matter) will not be taxed by us.

Import Fees: We make no money on import fees, we have no control over import fees, and we don't know what the charges will be. These are assessed and managed by your shipping carrier and your government after you order.

Yes. We sometimes are able to accommodate a special order. For example, if you see a brand we offer and do not see the specific product you want from that brand, we can sometimes retrieve it for you. While there is no additional cost for this service, it can take more time than a regular order and sometimes involves heftier shipping fees (since some of our products are international and small orders dictate higher shipping fees). Either way, feel free to reach out and ask if you are interested.

We offer a one-time 10% discount for subscribing to our email list. The offer applies to first orders only and does not include custom or vintage pieces, as their rarity and exclusivity prevent us from discounting them.

We also maintain a small Last Call section for items that are being retired or phased out of our curation. These are not discounted because they are lesser—simply pieces making room for new, thoughtful additions. If you’re looking for items that won’t return once sold, that collection is where you’ll find them.

Outside of the above promotions, we generally do not offer discounts. At the end of the day, we believe the goods we offer are worth the price at which they are listed.

If for some reason we do release a promo code, we will be vocal about their availability and they will be limited in duration and scope. Signing up for our mailing list is the most efficient way to be the first to hear.

Our goods are of exceptional quality. We work with talented manufacturers, expert leather workers, small businesses, and master craftsman. Their work on these products takes time. Some of our items are custom and made-to-order. If you want to be the first to know about a restock, make sure to subscribe to that product's restock alert and we will continue to stock the store as fast as humanely possible. That being said, if you see something you like and it happens to be in stock, it's best to purchase it now.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of receipt of your order, provided the merchandise is in its new, unused condition and includes the original packaging. Items that show signs of use, arrive without the original packaging, or received after the 30-day period will not be accepted.

Exceptions:

• Lighters: We cannot accept returns for lighters that have been filled with fluid.
  
• Brass/Copper/Bronze Products: Items that have had their vacuum seal opened or have been handled and exposed to oxidation are considered used and are not eligible for return.
  
• Art, Vintage & Gift Cards: Photographs, posters, gift cards, vintage artwork, vintage items, and "Bygone Goods" products are final sale. 

Refunds to the original payment method will incur a flat $5 restocking fee, which will be deducted from your refund. Returns for store credit or exchanges are not subject to this fee.

Since product notifications are not an official mailing list, anti-spam laws prevent us from emailing you constantly about the same product over and over again with no way to remove yourself from the list. If you received a restock notification and the product is already out of stock, you’ll need to sign up again if you still wish to receive notifications about the next restock.

To Maintain the Wick:

• Occasionally pull the wick up gently using a pair of flat tweezers.
  
• Trim the wick with scissors or, ideally, a pair of toenail clippers.

To Replace the Wick:

1. Unscrew the bottom cap of the lighter.
   
2. For the Field S+: Remove the oil tank from the lighter to provide better access to the internal components. Remove the bottom cap from the oil tank.
   
3. Remove the remaining wick by pulling it out from the top of the lighter.
   
4. For the Field L & Field S+: There are three prongs that hold the wick in place. Use your tweezers to gently bend the prongs away from the wick to release it.
   
5. Use tweezers to carefully pull the cotton out of the bottom of the lighter.
   
6. Your maintenance kit has two ends—use the end with the thin plastic tip as your guide.
   
7. Thread the plastic tip through the top of the lighter and down through the bottom cap.
   
8. Once the wick is successfully guided into the oil tank, trim off the plastic tip.
   
9. Ensure the wick is fully seated in the tank, with enough length exposed at the top to light and burn properly.
   
10. Use tweezers to stuff the cotton back into the oil tank.
    
11. If replacing the wick on the Field L or Field S+: Bend the three prongs back into place to hold the wick securely.
    
12. For the Field S+: After replacing the wick and repositioning the cotton, securely place the oil tank back into the lighter and reattach the bottom cap.

This will keep your lighter functioning efficiently.

For lighter fluid, we personally use Ronsonol.

For butane, we like Xikar or Newport Zero.

Like many of the heirloom products we sell, your lighter will need occasional maintenance. In many ways, maintaining our lighters is as fulfilling as owning them. That being said, your lighter will require some basic knowledge of what and how things can go wrong and what to do about each issue if and when they occur.

If your lighter is having any sort of issues lighting, the culprit is generally one of the following issues.

Issue #1: Your lighter is not sparking.

Solution #1: Replace the flint. The process for doing so on these lighters is different from lighter to lighter, but usually there is an area you can unscrew that allows you to add flint to the lighter. Please ask if you need help finding it.

Issue #2: The lighter is sparking and producing a flame, but the flame instantly disappears or the flame is very small regardless of how much you turn up the gas.

Solution #2: More than likely, your lighter does not have enough fluid/gas. Add more. With petrol lighters, the cotton should be saturated, but not sopping wet. With butane lighters, the lighter will generally feel a bit heavier when it is full and might even start to spurt gas at the fill nozzle (that's when you know you are about to overfill it!). Butane lighters require practice and experience to determine when they are either filled or not filled enough since, there is usually no way to view the fuel levels. Over time, you'll learn based on how the flame is producing and functioning.

Issue #3 (petrol lighters only): The flame is extremely low or has a hard time lighting even though you have plenty of fuel in the lighter and enough flint to spark a flame.

Solution #3: More than likely, your wick needs to be trimmed. It will appear overly charred, too frayed, or a bit short. Trimming the wick is easy and can generally be done with a pair of tweezers and a toenail clipper. Pinch the end of the wick with the tweezers, pull up, and cleanly trim the wick with your toenail clipper flush to the top of opening of the lighter. If you are out of wick, you'll need to purchase a new wick kit and insert the new wick. With some of our lighters, the wick is held in place by a small, metal prongs. The prongs can be bent away from the wick to allow you to pull the wick up through them. You can then secure the wick by bending the prongs back against the wick.

Issue #4: The lighter is sputtering (if butane) or appears wet, potentially too drenched in oil to light (if petrol).

Solution #4 (butane): You have either filled the lighter incorrectly, overfilled the lighter, or your gas is turned up too high. If turning the gas down does not solve the issue, try emptying the lighter completely (purging) and refilling it carefully according to the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to use the best butane you a find. For recommendations on butane, check the product page of your lighter.

Solution #4 (petrol): You have most likely overfilled the lighter and drenched the wick. You can either let the wick dry out (recommended) or light the wick with another lighter and burn off the excess gas. Be very careful doing this as sometimes the gas has also drenched the outside of the lighter and the flame can spread down from the wick, lighting the outside of the lighter and potentially burning your hand and/or causing a fire.

Rest assured, your product is new, and if you prefer, you can easily hand polish it to restore its original shine.

Every brand we carry, we are authorized to carry. Furthermore, we only represent brands' products we have personally used and believe in. Because many of these brands are small businesses themselves, we do our best to protect their brand by not selling their products on Ebay, Amazon, or any other online marketplaces. We encourage you not to buy them there either, regardless if you ultimately choose us as your vendor of choice.

Due to new U.S. tariffs on certain imports (including from the UK, Canada, Italy, and Japan) introduced in 2025, our listed prices reflect the impact of these added costs. While a manufacturer’s website in those countries may show a lower price, those orders are often subject to these new tariffs, duties, and brokerage fees at delivery. In many cases, the final cost to the customer ends up being the same—or more. We’ve adjusted our pricing transparently to account for this, so what you see is a clearer reflection of your actual spend.

The job of Last Manner is to curate accessories that are unique, practical, beautiful, and sophisticated. We do this not by crowdsourcing opinions, but by using these products ourselves.

In that spirit, we stand by these products because we personally love them.

As we continue to build long term relationships with our customers, it's clear they trust our opinion on the matter without the need to sift through hundreds of other opinions. In fact, our customers appreciate the time they saved knowing that if we sell it, it's a great investment.

Over time, brass and copper develop beautiful patinas. However, we prefer they arrive to you before they begin to patina. To help prevent premature tarnishing, we insert tarnish strips into each box containing brass or copper that is exposed to air. These strips absorb moisture and keep your goods in new condition until they arrive to you. You can simply throw them out once you open your package.

That being said, many of the items we sell are handmade. It is to be expected that there will be some minor, cosmetic imperfections. These simply add to the authenticity and uniqueness of these objects.

Yes. We are aware that in the age of Amazon, the expectations are that if you want something, you can have it almost instantly. And perhaps even cheaper. However, there is great truth to the wisdom that waiting for something truly special - even just a few days extra - builds excitement, enhances patience, and allows you the space and time to focus on the present moment.
