These high-quality color plate illustrations by Milo Winter were originally interspersed throughout the 1916 Windermere Series edition of Alice in Wonderland.

Printed on glossy pages, the illustrations retain strong color, detail, and storybook charm, making them wonderful pieces for collectors of classic children’s literature, antique illustration, or Alice-related ephemera.

The illustrations themselves are in excellent condition. A few plates show slight edge tears to the paper, but these do not affect the artwork itself. Please review the photos for more detailed condition notes. Colors may vary slightly in person.

Known for reissuing literary classics with high-quality illustrations, the Windermere Series books aimed at making classic literature more visually appealing and accessible to young readers and families. Each book featured the work of an acclaimed illustrator, adding a unique artistic touch to well-loved stories.

The color plates for Alice in Wonderland were illustrated by Milo Winter (1888-1956), who created illustrations for editions of "Aesop's Fables," "A Christmas Carol," and "Arabian Nights" in addition to "Alice in Wonderland."  Winter was later the art editor of Childcraft books from 1947 to 1949.

Bygone Goods

Bygone Goods is our designation for vintage objects — found pieces with history, character, and soul. Every piece is carefully curated; if it doesn't meet our standards for quality and uniqueness, it doesn't make the cut. These aren't relics. They're survivors, chosen for people who appreciate true craftsmanship and lasting quality. When they're gone, they're gone.
