The Harvard Classics, also known as “Dr. Eliot’s Five-Foot Shelf of Books,” is a renowned 50-volume anthology of classic literature, philosophy, history, and foundational Western thought.

Compiled and edited by Harvard University President Charles W. Eliot, the first 25 volumes were published in 1909, followed by the remaining 25 in 1910. The collection was created to give readers access to a broad liberal education through carefully selected essential works.

Most volumes are in good condition, with some natural variation from book to book. As a vintage set, light wear should be expected and is part of its character, history, and appeal.

Equally suited for reading, collecting, or display, The Harvard Classics bring substance, heritage, and quiet elegance to a home library, office, or study.

Each are sold as-is and are final sale.

Bygone Goods

Bygone Goods is our designation for vintage objects — found pieces with history, character, and soul. Every piece is carefully curated; if it doesn't meet our standards for quality and uniqueness, it doesn't make the cut. These aren't relics. They're survivors, chosen for people who appreciate true craftsmanship and lasting quality. When they're gone, they're gone.
