Defined by its Art Deco aesthetic and signature cap toggle, shaped to echo the wings of a samurai’s kabuto battle helm, the Kiribi Kabuto pipe lighter collection is one of Japan’s most distinctive pipe-lighter designs.

The Tsuchime Black & Brass model pairs a hand-hammered brass body with deep black accents, creating a bold contrast that emphasizes the Kabuto’s sculptural form.

As it’s carried and used, the raised portions of the black finish will gradually wear, revealing more of the warm brass underneath and giving each lighter its own evolving character.

  • Stunning Tsuchime (hammered) black-lacquered brass finish.
  • Single tank construction with extraordinary fuel capacity.
  • Special polymer spring that is more resistant to fatigue than steel.
  • Angled flame design convenient for pipe lighting.
  • One-handed style.
  • Brass body. Die-cast zinc cap.
  • Fuel: Butane gas (sold separately)*
  • Gas Capacity: 4g
  • Lighter fluid not included.
  • Made in Japan.

Kiribi

Kiribi takes its name from an ancient Japanese ritual — casting sparks upon a traveler's back to impart fortune and ward off evil. The practice traces back to the 8th century legend of Prince Yamatotakeru, whose aunt gifted him a firestone and striker that saved his life on the road. In time, that same simple kit became the tool Japanese countryfolk used to light their pipes — and the inspiration for the Kiribi line, created by Japanese lighter maker Tsubota Pearl.
