Last Manner x Tokyo Pipe Co. Douglass Field S+ Lighter | Blackened Brass Exclusive

Sale price$195.00

A field lighter built with modern Japanese precision, pairing blackened brass with duralumin in a form engineered for the elements. Exclusive to Last Manner, individually numbered.

In stock

Crafted in Japan by Tokyo Pipe Co. from solid brass and duralumin, the Black Brass Douglass Field S+ Last Manner edition pairs darkened brass sections with precision-machined duralumin components, carefully assembled by hand.

The darker finish is achieved through a specialized antiquing treatment that darkens the surface of the brass, followed by buffing. The final tone is controlled by the buffing time: shorter buffing retains a darker appearance, while longer buffing produces a lighter finish. Because the tone is adjusted during the buffing process, each piece has very subtle individual variations.

Unlike raw brass, the treated surface has a darkened finish from the outset. Over time, regular handling and use may gradually wear away the darkened surface at the edges and high points, revealing more of the natural brass color beneath.

Built from 45 individual parts, engineered to a tolerance of 1/100 millimeter. Airtight construction and an integrated wind guard make it usable in the field. Unscrew the base and you’ll find hidden storage for a spare flint and additional fuel. The oil tank is removable for clean refilling.

Finally, the Black Brass Field S+ introduces an improved closure system. The cap’s small ball now seats into a formed cup at the head of the lighter rather than a plain hole. This allows the cap to close more securely, creates a better seal, and puts more force behind the strike.

This exclusive design was built specifically for Last Manner.

From Rich to Radiant

The Transformation of Brass Patina

Brass evolves beautifully over time, developing a rich patina that enhances its depth and character. As it reacts to air, moisture, and touch, its surface gradually shifts—deepening into warm golden hues, rich browns, or even hints of green and blue. Unlike materials that degrade, brass gains a lived-in elegance, with each mark and change telling a story of use and history. Through natural oxidation and handling, its finish becomes uniquely its own, embodying a timeless aesthetic that only grows more captivating with age.

Tokyo Pipe Co.

Founded in 1946, the Tokyo Pipe Co. has been manufacturing smoking products for over 75 years. In 1993, the company re-manufactured the once extinct 1920's "Douglass" American oil lighter. Handcrafted by expert craftsmen in Japan, the lighters have become a staple of the company, as well as some of the most unique, durable, and gorgeous lighters on the market.

Inside the Last Manner x Tokyo Pipe Co. Field S+ Collaboration

In 2023, our search for uncompromising craftsmanship led us to a small, unassuming workshop in Japan: Tokyo Pipe Co. What we found wasn't just a manufacturing facility — it was a team of master artisans hand-assembling the finest lighters in the world with a staggering 1/100th of a millimeter precision.
